Supporters Call for Custody of Individual Who Seized Ariana Grande
Loyal followers of the pop star are calling for that a individual who breached a fence and grabbed the celebrity during the recent Wicked: For Good debut be detained or deported from Singapore.
A circulating footage depicts the Australian man pushing past camera operators and rushing toward Grande while the actors walked down a yellow carpet accompanied by fans.
Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo quickly wrested the stunned star away from Mr Wen, who was spotted being escorted out of the premiere by security officers.
Mr Wen shared on Instagram late on Thursday that he was "free after being arrested", though official papers revealed that he was scheduled to attend court on the next day. It is uncertain if he was charged.
Pattern of Incidents
This is not an isolated incident for Mr Wen, who calls himself a "Notorious Troublemaker", has invaded a performance. His Instagram feed includes videos of him disturbing other high-profile occasions, including jumping on stage at the pop singer's Sydney show in June this year and in a similar way during The Chainsmokers performance in the area last winter.
"Measures must be taken applied against him as this is evidently a legal violation," stated an Instagram commenter, in a message to a video Mr Wen shared of his act.
"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" one Instagram user questioned.
Fans Show Disapproval Over Ariana's Safety
Numerous fans blamed Mr Wen for "re-traumatising" Grande, who had discussed experiencing PTSD after a terrorist explosion at the finale of her 2017 concert in Manchester, resulting in the death of 22 people and harming hundreds.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" said a further comment on Instagram.
Some attendees also faulted security officers at the gathering for not being sufficiently alert; while different individuals called for online networks to remove Mr Wen's uploads.
Aftermath and Event Details
In footage spreading on the internet, Grande looked surprised when she was approached by the man. Her cast members Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be spotted consoling her while Mr Wen was escorted away by guards.
Grande has not commented on the incident, and the premiere activities carried on uninterrupted.
Numerous of attendees had gathered in a crowd of emerald and rose at the Wicked: For Good regional launch in a Singapore shopping center, including several who had queued for as long as many hours before it commenced.
The film, to be released on November 21, is the second of a two-part interpretation of the popular Broadway and West End production Wicked, which focuses on the unexpected friendship between two contrasting characters.
The production itself is a adaptation of the 1900 story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who plays the character Glinda Glinda, was adorned in a champagne pink glittering gown at the premiere while Erivo, who acts as the villainous character, wore a elegant ensemble embroidered with roses.
They were alongside cast member Jeff Goldblum.
The previous installment, Wicked, was the highest-grossing movie of last year in the UK, and earned ten Oscar nominations, winning several for outstanding attire and artistic direction.
