President Trump Calls Loved Ones of Attacked Guard Members to White House

President Trump stated on the weekend that he has invited the loved ones of a National Guard member killed last week to come to the executive mansion.

He added that he contacted her family and they were “heartbroken”.

Background on the Heartbreaking Event

Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was killed in a attack on last Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her colleague, Andrew Wolfe, 24, is still in the hospital in serious condition.

Gatherings across the state have been held in their honor.

White House Offer

The commander-in-chief said he’s discussed a visit to the White House for the families of both soldiers of the state National Guard.

“I stated: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a difficult moment, visit the White House. We’re going to honor her,” Trump informed journalists. “And in the same way with Andrew, whether he recovers or not.”

Public Response

Attendees assembled over the weekend at a local school in the state to pay respects to Beckstrom.

Both the soldiers had been fulfilling duties with the state guard as part of the president’s federal initiative to assist public safety in the capital.

Remembering the Soldier

“She was the individual that instructors wished for. She carried herself with inner fortitude, a warm expression and a upbeat demeanor that encouraged those around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the principal of Beckstrom’s previous school, informed the Associated Press. “She was sweet, compassionate and always eager to assist people.”

Memorial details for Beckstrom are yet to be finalized.

Legal Actions and Government Revisions

Law enforcement have charged a 29-year-old Afghan national with one count of homicide and two counts of assault with intent to kill while armed.

The tragedy prompted the administration to suspend asylum applications and temporarily stop providing entry permits to possessors of passports from Afghanistan.

Condition of Andrew Wolfe

Andrew Wolfe, a resident of the city, enlisted in 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman High, as reported by the AP.

He is still undergoing care and is “battling to survive”, the state’s governor Patrick Morrisey stated on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.

Attorney general the attorney general told Fox News Sunday that she planned to speak to Wolfe’s family.

Legacy of Sarah Beckstrom

Sarah, from her hometown, graduated from Webster County High in June 2023 and began her service not long after, working as a MP with excellence, as stated by the West Virginia National Guard.

“She had a lot of kindness and she definitely had fortitude,” Morrisey told the crowd at the memorial. “Though her life ended too soon, she has created a legacy that’s going to last forever.”
