Arne Slot Insists He Feels Secure and Has Liverpool's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Defeat

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it's expected for questions to be raised about his position following another heavy defeat versus the Dutch champions.

Liverpool endured their 9th loss in twelve games, marking the team's worst streak since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie title holders on a difficult night at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, things are alright, I've received plenty of support from the top,” the coach commented.

“It would be nice to turn it around and secure a win obviously but if you are working as a coach and underperforming then it's typical that people question you.”

He noted, “I'm comfortable with my role. This isn't the first time I’ve been in a tough spot but it's crucial that we changed our fortunes.”

Conversations with Club Management

When asked to elaborate on his conversations with the team officials, the head coach said:

“We communicate frequently. They are supportive for the squad and for me and those talks happen but they aren't calling me all the time each day to say they back me.”

He further stated, “In the normal conversations we have I sense the belief. But I've not talked to them after this game yet so we'll see.”

Familiar Problems and Player Response

Slot highlighted known weaknesses from his team in their European loss, specifically missed opportunities and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more direct in his view of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the answers. Honestly, I do not. I’m saying that to everyone,” the midfielder remarked.

“It’s just not good enough. I don’t even have to wait to reflect. I'm beyond getting mad inside. I’m at the point currently where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He went on, “It's tough because I’m playing for the side I follow. I support them, and I've watched this club since I was young.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team going through a period such as this with performances this poor.”

He finished, “But we continue to wear the emblem on our shirts. And as long as that badge is taken away, we’re always going to battle.”

“We will attempt to help the side back to its rightful place, demonstrate to all again what this club is about and why people call it the best team in the world.”

“However currently, we’re in the shit and it must improve.”
